I really hope old people don't x out the candidates they don't want. Some lady next to me when I put my ballot in the machine tried to vote for two presidents. Why can't people just follow the directions?
yesss this is the most exciting night of my life im so excited i havent blogged in the past because ive been saving all my comments for this one night!! obama!!!!!
why is it that on both cnn and fox news popular vote numbers and percentages are available for KY and IN but not VT, but VT has been declared blue? im confused...
all the democratic counties in indiana havent been reported and hes still within 3! wow, this is a state bush gutted kerry in and now its in play baby!
elbaum serisouly coolest thing ive ever seen haha i want to be the guy that gets to do that -look at grant park upper left corner buidling has the flag in lights
elbaum im serious about the touch screen that could really enhance my educational abilities...plus if we put a picture of pop up there we can draw on his face...cha ching
vlad from what youve told me that is not youre kind of party at all haha dont kid youself you would be having a horrible time at that kind of shindig bec you on the other hand..i see you and sarah palin really htiting it off
but that's the thing... that's the is the kind of things i like to do at parties. I like to listen to boys choir hit it off and drink champaign and raise the glass for MAC BABY!
Yup Elbaum thats crazy...My dad was asking about the tax policy...is it only the 250+ that you make that gets taxed...for instance up to 249K you pay regular taxes like everyone else or is the percentage raised for the entire income you make
You take the extra money after the 250k, and that is what is taxed the 3% extra (36-39). The thing I do not like about Obama's tax plan is he says that he will lower taxes for 95% of America, but about a third of the US already doesn't pay income tax from bonuses or refunds.
mr. E a lot of websites are showing district by district breakdown of voting...does this mean anything, or is it merely interesting to see how a state votes and only the overall popular vote for the state matters?
I think POP meant what percentage OF americans make that amount... and my views have TOTALLY changed during this election. there is not one presidental cadidate on the ballot today that can do alot for our country right now.... BOTH CANDIDATES ARE HORRIBLE. goodnight.

i dont understand how they can predict the winner of the states when only a few percent of the votes have come in. (ie: pennsylvania) couldnt something drastic happen that would make them wrong??
Michelle, that is just horrible and lazy. I really find it annoying when people say "I hate both candidates". It just means you have not looked into the issues and are just basing opions based on: 1. McCain wants to stay in Iraq 2. Obama is inexperienced
ron styne just told me that when truman ran for president the night of the election the media said that dewey had won but the next morning after all the votes were counted it was found that truman really won hmmmm
How is Obama going to pay for healthcare if only 5% of Americans make more than 250K, won't that mean that the overall tax collected is less than today?
no josh. thanks to elbaum, i am deeply informed on the issues of this election between mccain and obama. I am a liberal who disagrees with obamas policy of "spreading the wealth". Do you really think it is fair to take the money away from hard working citizens to citizens who don't deserve it? And Obama once stated we should not deport illegal immigrants because it is "ridiculous". Well i think its a little ridiculous and suspicious that his own aunt he is pretty darn close with is an illegal immigrant. I think there is something underneath Obama's skin that we are not aware of. And if he is our next president, my dad, who is a small business owner's, business may be in jepardy. And McCain? Well he is just an idiot to for choosing palin as our "next potential president". In a couple of months when Mccain dies of old age, the country will try to be persuaded by palin that global warming doesnt exist. If Mccain is president, we will =be in an even deeper depression and that is not what we need. Obama would help gradually fix this problem but will hurt more individuals. Although there are good policies following each candidate, i do not think that either will make the world of a difference. that is my opinion. this has nothing to do with laziness and ignorance.
right now CNN.com projects obama with over 170 ev and mac only about fifty but the popular vote is so close! i know it doesnt matter but still interesting
looking at missouri, even though it was said to be really tight there, mccain seems to be ahead with a large margin (12%), not a very crucial state but still significant
Michelle, I disagree with what you said that McCain is going to die soon and Palin is going to replace him, it is not likely. However, I do agree with you because my dad is also a small business owner who will not do well with Obama's tax plans. At least you gave me your reasons why you do not like the candidates, so I will not bother you about it anymore.
zach im right behind you haha if you cant apperciate the fact that this election is going to make life changing history than you should get out of the country
mac country is all the hick states like montana that have little electoral significance...if i was a mccain supporter i would lock myself in a closet and not come out until tomaro because watching these projections must be painful
If McCain states are hick states, then African Americans who live in poorer areas are merely voting for Obama because he is also African American. Generalizations are pretty much bad arguements, especially since everybody seems to compare EVERY republican to George Bush.
Okay, I know just about everyone disagrees with me, but I really don't think socialism is bad. FDR's plans were really socialist, and he saved us from the Great Depression!!!!! We're now in a recession, and I think it calls for drastic measures. And those drastic measures might just be socialism. The solution is not tax cuts for the wealthy. It is not a spending freeze either.
At least you Obama fans will not get your "more of the same" since you are so convinced Obama has already won, so lets see these new "changes" 1. More socialist government 2. Small businesses going bankrupt 3. Lack of any experience or good foreign policy 4. More leniant abortion, and much more partial-birth murde...abortion Looks like a lot of "change" for you Obama fans
Stop assuming McCain is going to die immediately. He survived torture and cancer from the vietnam war, McCain is a strong man who will definetely live for many more years.
fdr wasnt really socialist he just made up a lotta jobs and programs to keep people out of unemployment he wasnt trying to take money from the rich really... no matter what socialism is not good for america. im not saying obama is socialsit cause i dont think he is but i still hate his tax plan
FDR did not talk about "spreading the wealth", he did induce socialist programs, but they supplied jobs, nothing else. He did not talk of giving the wealth of americans to others who may not have earned it.
Sometimes life can shock you, josh. It is possible to die at anytime. What we're all saying is... McCain just has a 95% more chnace of dying than you or me.
clearly the amazing weather conditions and strong feeling for the need of change are paying off. the amount of people that acutally voted in this election seems like its going to be a shocking statistic
im sure my family will enjoy it while we are paying half of our income to the government. for those obama tax supporters lemme put it this way. my dad is working from january to may for the government. i cant support that
the analyst on CNN showed that if McCain wins all the states he could possibly win...which excludes california, washington, oregon, and hawaii...he would still only be at 266 EVs. ouch.
honestly it really must be embarrasing to be a republican right now. after 8 years of terrible leadership the american public has finally learned their lesson. Time for republicans to pay the consequences for their failed leadership. OBAMA 08!!
I cannot handle the intensity and drama of some people! Honestly, if a candidate you don't like wins, you just have to deal with it. It's not like just because your candidate doesn't win the nation will fall apart.

7:16 PM
elbaum im serious about the touch screen that could really enhance my educational abilities...plus if we put a picture of pop up there we can draw on his face...cha ching
7:17 PM
haha vlad.
i agree.
styne does not fit into the McCain party!
7:21 PM
vlad from what youve told me that is not youre kind of party at all haha dont kid youself you would be having a horrible time at that kind of shindig
bec you on the other hand..i see you and sarah palin really htiting it off
7:22 PM
and yeah i know matthew im just trying to optimistic...4 years of another republican might drive me insane
7:24 PM
what's wrong styne you don't like to get mavericky?
7:27 PM

7:29 PM
As soon as someone hears ANYTHING CREDIBLE about Kirk vs. Seals, post it
7:30 PM
i havent heard anything about kirk and seals yet... i am excited tho.
7:30 PM
Dan Seals is the man. Credible enough Elbaum? I think so.
7:30 PM
elbaum right now are the counts basically just predictions? or are they acutally solid numbers as far as electoral votes are counted
7:32 PM
hey elbaum. whats with the new one channel says obama has penn and another doesnt say he does
7:33 PM
Check out the exit polls
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/polls.main/
7:33 PM
Sammie,
These aren't predictions. They "call" a state for someone based one
1. votes
2. exit polls
3. history
Corey,
Some networks are more hesitant to call a state too soon. For example, NBC called Penn for Obama. CNN has not. It's network preference
7:35 PM
alright i got ya thanks
7:37 PM
CNN.com has kirk up 56-44 based on exit polls
7:37 PM
So elbaum...these "called" states are not 100% official? they are just what probably will happen?
7:37 PM
Good news!!McCain won the votes in Indiana!!
7:38 PM
yeah what pat said?
7:39 PM
Pat,
Correct. Not "official" until the sec of state for each state "certifies" them...that usually happens with 100 percent of the voting is done.
7:39 PM
CNN just called Pennsylvania for Obama. Mac needs to sweep the rest of the swing states, pretty much
7:40 PM
anyone seen the Obama stage yet? surrounded by bulletproof glass, it looks like
7:41 PM
alright thanks...obama takes pennsylvania niceeeeeeeeeee
7:43 PM
Mac NEEDS Virginia!!!
7:44 PM
no pat not nice tahts bad
7:44 PM
Pennsylvania was obviously for Obama, that's not really surprising
7:44 PM
Yup Elbaum thats crazy...My dad was asking about the tax policy...is it only the 250+ that you make that gets taxed...for instance up to 249K you pay regular taxes like everyone else or is the percentage raised for the entire income you make
7:45 PM
What percentage of Americans make 250K plus?
7:46 PM
corey it is in fact super nice now that you mention it.
7:46 PM
You take the extra money after the 250k, and that is what is taxed the 3% extra (36-39). The thing I do not like about Obama's tax plan is he says that he will lower taxes for 95% of America, but about a third of the US already doesn't pay income tax from bonuses or refunds.
7:47 PM
Mac's not getting Virginia, Mr. E,
nearly all the precincts near D.C aren't in yet and that's where Obama is gonna take the state...
7:47 PM
POP,
if you make 249k you pay 33 percent. than everything over 250k get taxed at a higher rate
7:48 PM
mr. E
a lot of websites are showing district by district breakdown of voting...does this mean anything, or is it merely interesting to see how a state votes and only the overall popular vote for the state matters?

7:54 PM
Kirk up 56-44 with 19 percent reporting
7:55 PM
Michelle, that is just horrible and lazy. I really find it annoying when people say "I hate both candidates". It just means you have not looked into the issues and are just basing opions based on:
1. McCain wants to stay in Iraq
2. Obama is inexperienced
7:55 PM
Horray for Kirk!!!

ron styne just told me that when truman ran for president the night of the election the media said that dewey had won but the next morning after all the votes were counted it was found that truman really won hmmmm
7:56 PM
yeah fleish why do you say that care to explain? why the sudden change of heart?
7:56 PM
How is Obama going to pay for healthcare if only 5% of Americans make more than 250K, won't that mean that the overall tax collected is less than today?
7:57 PM
Like other politicians, Obama get the rest of the money for healthcare from the SOcial Security funds.
7:59 PM
Obama wants to cut money from the federal budget that he says is a "waste"
7:59 PM
mike think of how much money families like the waltons make...they're not the only ones...thats a lotta dough
8:00 PM
Mac takes North Dakota
8:00 PM
What I said before was (somewhat) sarcastic, but I still do not agree with Obama's tax and funding plans.
8:00 PM
cnn has prejections that bama is less than 100 ev away!!
8:01 PM
sorry elbaum i havent posted in a while im at a friends...OBAMA wins Penn!!!!!!!!! hahaha. Nap time for McCain
8:01 PM
McCain might still loose Arizona!
8:01 PM
texas precentages are so close. thats suprising
8:03 PM
Anyone just see that CNN exit poll
Voters say "age" was a much bigger factor than "race"
Hmm
8:04 PM
I am feeling depressed right now
8:04 PM
THE DEMS ARE GUTTING THE REPUBLICANS LIKE FISH!!!!!!!!
8:04 PM
Mr. E,
what do you think the chances are that the Democrats get a filibuster-proof majority?
j
8:06 PM
mateshe, what's with all the cruel metaphors? That hurts, and McCain is still not out of it.
8:06 PM
56% kirk
44% seals
8:08 PM
This won't only be a win for BO, it looks like it's gonna be a landslide
8:08 PM
a landslide means one big fiesta in grant park.
8:10 PM
If you're right about this Mr. E, then I'm leaving now to Mexico.
8:10 PM
no josh.

fdr wasnt really socialist he just made up a lotta jobs and programs to keep people out of unemployment he wasnt trying to take money from the rich really... no matter what socialism is not good for america. im not saying obama is socialsit cause i dont think he is but i still hate his tax plan

8:31 PM
FDR did not talk about "spreading the wealth", he did induce socialist programs, but they supplied jobs, nothing else. He did not talk of giving the wealth of americans to others who may not have earned it.
8:31 PM
There is just as good a chance that McCain dies than Bush or Obama dies. McCain is tough. But i don't trust Sarah Palin. What a shocker
8:31 PM
Sometimes life can shock you, josh.
It is possible to die at anytime. What we're all saying is... McCain just has a 95% more chnace of dying than you or me.

Poor Josh. I hear australia is nice....
8:33 PM
anderson cooper is a stud
8:33 PM
why is josh talking about fdr
8:34 PM
For those who missed what I said before...
Exit polls suggest age was a bigger factor in voter's mind's than race
8:34 PM
Michelle, life can shock you, but Mac's chances of dying are still not enough that he has a count down timer that is less then 4 years
8:34 PM
i'm really not surprised about that elbaum.
8:35 PM
i saw this poll that said econmy was the most important issue to americans (it was at liek 83%)
8:35 PM
oh god.
if obama wins... there goes the nation.
8:35 PM
I was talking about FDR because someone mentioned FDR had socialistic programs during the Depression, and so I responded, its a bit higher up though
8:35 PM
WHO KNOWSSSSSSSSSSSS
8:35 PM
clearly the amazing weather conditions and strong feeling for the need of change are paying off. the amount of people that acutally voted in this election seems like its going to be a shocking statistic
8:36 PM
like i said, anonymous, go to australia. We will be perfectly happy here
8:36 PM

I cannot handle the intensity and drama of some people! Honestly, if a candidate you don't like wins, you just have to deal with it. It's not like just because your candidate doesn't win the nation will fall apart.
