7:33 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Check out the exit polls

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/polls.main/

7:33 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Sammie,

These aren't predictions. They "call" a state for someone based one

1. votes
2. exit polls
3. history

Corey,

Some networks are more hesitant to call a state too soon. For example, NBC called Penn for Obama. CNN has not. It's network preference

7:35 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

alright i got ya thanks

7:37 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

CNN.com has kirk up 56-44 based on exit polls

7:37 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Good news!!McCain won the votes in Indiana!!

7:38 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

yeah what pat said?

7:39 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Pat,

Correct. Not "official" until the sec of state for each state "certifies" them...that usually happens with 100 percent of the voting is done.

7:39 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

CNN just called Pennsylvania for Obama. Mac needs to sweep the rest of the swing states, pretty much

7:44 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Pennsylvania was obviously for Obama, that's not really surprising

7:44 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yup Elbaum thats crazy...My dad was asking about the tax policy...is it only the 250+ that you make that gets taxed...for instance up to 249K you pay regular taxes like everyone else or is the percentage raised for the entire income you make

7:45 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

What percentage of Americans make 250K plus?

7:46 PM

Blogger Pat C. said...

corey it is in fact super nice now that you mention it.

7:46 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

You take the extra money after the 250k, and that is what is taxed the 3% extra (36-39). The thing I do not like about Obama's tax plan is he says that he will lower taxes for 95% of America, but about a third of the US already doesn't pay income tax from bonuses or refunds.

7:47 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Mac's not getting Virginia, Mr. E,
nearly all the precincts near D.C aren't in yet and that's where Obama is gonna take the state...

7:47 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

POP,

if you make 249k you pay 33 percent. than everything over 250k get taxed at a higher rate

7:48 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

mr. E
a lot of websites are showing district by district breakdown of voting...does this mean anything, or is it merely interesting to see how a state votes and only the overall popular vote for the state matters?

2. Obama is inexperienced

thanks to elbaum, i am deeply informed on the issues of this election between mccain and obama. I am a liberal who disagrees with obamas policy of "spreading the wealth". Do you really think it is fair to take the money away from hard working citizens to citizens who don't deserve it? And Obama once stated we should not deport illegal immigrants because it is "ridiculous". Well i think its a little ridiculous and suspicious that his own aunt he is pretty darn close with is an illegal immigrant. I think there is something underneath Obama's skin that we are not aware of. And if he is our next president, my dad, who is a small business owner's, business may be in jepardy.
And McCain? Well he is just an idiot to for choosing palin as our "next potential president". In a couple of months when Mccain dies of old age, the country will try to be persuaded by palin that global warming doesnt exist. If Mccain is president, we will =be in an even deeper depression and that is not what we need. Obama would help gradually fix this problem but will hurt more individuals.
Although there are good policies following each candidate, i do not think that either will make the world of a difference. that is my opinion. this has nothing to do with laziness and ignorance.

CYYYYA.

We're now in a recession, and I think it calls for drastic measures. And those drastic measures might just be socialism. The solution is not tax cuts for the wealthy. It is not a spending freeze either.

the analyst on CNN showed that if McCain wins all the states he could possibly win...which excludes california, washington, oregon, and hawaii...he would still only be at 266 EVs. ouch.

I cannot handle the intensity and drama of some people! Honestly, if a candidate you don't like wins, you just have to deal with it. It's not like just because your candidate doesn't win the nation will fall apart.
