a xmas tree bill
hey brian
ok
hello
Who has got questions?
and the changes brought about by the committee bill of rights in the early 1970s included the right to have subcomittee jurisdiction determined by?
what number
umm 35
so everyone can follow along
sorry
the majority aprty
ok!
and 36 too
do u want me to type it out>
?*
I don't have my sheet, so could you paraphrase
yes what are the recent trends in congress regarding the # of ammendments to proposed law
i have a question. its number 31, generally, what are the most importatn committees in congress?
they have gone way up
ok
standing committees are most imporant
thanks u!
thank*
those are the regular committees that bills get sent to...remember specialization
7:10 PM
thank you
sure
ooohhh we have to do the other review sheet too?
yea
interest groups?
yes
darn it!
so any other questions
not for now
ok I'll be on for a little
ok
yes, number 33, they type o comitee most liley to deal with a bill near the end of its legislative process is the..
conference committee
the bill that gets send to the POTUS needs to be in identical form between the h and senate
so when htere are differences, a conference committee works on it to make it identical
the committee consists of members of both chambers
mlbwhitesox13 has left this chat.
so what's the difference between a joint committee and conference committee?
mlbwhitesox13 has joined this chat.
conference committee is a kind of joint committee
you mean the house and the senate righgt
right
yeah
cool
Shame about the Sox leaving so many men on base, right Brian?
7:15 PM
indeed, a two hour rain delay to start the game. it goes 11 full innings and gets suspended. Its going to be made up at a later date,
its crazy.
i ahve another question if u wanted to know what a member of congress voted on a particular bill, you would look at how he/she voted on what? #58
on the amendments of the bill
because voting against the amendments is a good way to kill a bill
oh ok!
thnks!
when you say ammendments, you mean the various parts of a bill?
7:20 PM
right
i thought an ammendment was a change to the bill
do they split up the bill while voting?
mlbwhitesox13 has left this chat.
no they vote on the entire thing
mlbwhitesox13 has joined this chat.
i have a question on number 53, it states, unlike the house, the scheduling off legislation in the senate is whose responsibility?
an amendment could be a part of the original bill, OR someone may "propose an amendment" which would be a change to the bill
ok
53: majority and minority leaders
Thank you.
I will be right back in a few minutes.
